City of London Pastors Project

Welcome to City of London Pastors. Thank you for your interest and wanting to be a part of this organisation. Everything we do relies upon the support of our highly dedicated volunteers, people like you, willing to give up your time in order to help and support people in the City of London. Your efforts help to make the City a safer and better place to be.

City of London Pastors is a charitable volunteer initiative involving a number of churches within the Square Mile. It is a part of the Christian Nightlife Initiative (CNI) Network that is made up of approximately 130 similar initiatives in other towns and cities across the UK. Most, but not all, of these operate under the name ‘Street Angels’.

CNI was launched in Halifax in November 2005 and has contributed to crime falling by almost 60% in the town. Locally we hope to launch in late spring / early summer 2017.

COLPas is designed to be a visible and caring Christian presence on the streets of the City at times when some people may have become vulnerable and in need of help and support. Generally this will be on Thursday, Friday and/or Saturday evenings, between the hours of 10pm and 2am.

Although the initiative is not about street preaching, as practicing Christians volunteers like to take advantage of opportunities to explain and share their faith with any who enquire.

COLPas has developed very close working partnerships with the City of London Police and the City of London Corporation, as well as other relevant organisations.

Our Aims

The aims of the City of London Pastors project are to:

  • Be a visible Christian presence on the streets of the City of London, contributing to the safety and wellbeing of those living, working and visiting the Square Mile.
  • Offer care, compassion and relevant practical and spiritual support where appropriate to members of the public.
  • Help those who appear vulnerable or in need of assistance; irrespective of how this may have come about.
  • Point individuals to relevant organisations that may be able to help them in their particular difficulty.
  • Create and maintain effective relationships with those engaged in the night- time economy of the City.

City Pastors are people who love Jesus and where appropriate we want to speak about our faith with those who enquire.
